Can anyone tell me what size the standard front dash speakers are? mine are verging on 14 years old so there falling apart

Can anyone recomend some half decent replacements, need to get them on the same day as im planing on doing most of the work on friday so it looks like it will be Halfords

    Cheers

some GTI's have speakers in the doors some dont,

i cant remeber what size they are, i have a feeling they are 17cm, but i could be wrong,

any half decent make of speaker will sound a hell of alot better than the ones there,

Do you mean 85mm ? and if so take out old ones and measure across two holes diagonally to get the pcd.

Many people have fitted completly different tweeters in there. I'm not sure they have to fit exact.

Take them out and have a look at how much room you have.

    Oops got confused.

What I would do for sure is to buy speaker grills (6.50 each from GPC) and put speakers in the door pockets (this is totally standard VW), you can then get 13cm speakers which will sound way way better than the dash ones, you can also get replacement tweeters as part of a mid/tweeter kit.

what u were told at Halfords is right, when replacing them with after market you need to fit the 8.5cm ones; but the ones that are standard are around 10cm but this includes intergrated fittings, that why after market is slightly smaller! ;)
