Saab and Ford used a turbo ona k jet system, so it can be done. The problem is making it boost sensitive, you will have to retard the timing as the boost pressure rises.

First work out how you're going to mount and drive your charger. Plenty of ex-Mini superchargers on Ebay for 150 a pop.

If you supercharge an engine do you need to reduce the compression , how? do you stack gaskets or what

well i'd use a copper gasket i think.

so a super charger will work on k-jet?

i can find out about timing advance and retard on k-jet from ford owners i suppose, they run k-jet on series 1 rs turbo's don't they?
150 quid's not bad i'm sure if i got hold of a g60 mounting bracket i could get work to make something similer up to fit a mini charger up.

just been on ebay, 175 quid for a mini charger! [:D]

    custom piping, intercooler?
gaskets, drop compression, and timing to sort, easier than a turbo?

The problem with the Eaton supercharger is that it is significantly bigger than the G60 and space is going to be a problem. The G60 mounting won't be much use, you'll need to fabricate an entirely new set of brackets and figure out how to mount them.

According to the Eaton specs (http://www.filler-up.com/sscor/m45_specifications.htm)you don't need an intercooler (although it's probably not a bad idea) and as to the ignition timing you could always use something like MegaJolt (http://picasso.org/mjlj/) to do this.

How are you planning on controling the extra fuel? How are you planning to drive it?

I was thinking about fitting a Ogura 7.5 supercharger to mine, it is small, relativly cheap and has an EM clutch as well to stop any idleing problems.

i'm REALLY tempted by this, i dunno why, but i imagine a revy 1600 with a super charger with the roar of k-jet will be mad?

RST s1 + s2 run two ECU's, one does the spark the other fuelling and even though it's mechanical K-Jet, it's got a fuel pressure sensor on the metering head and a few other fuelling sensors so really it's KE.. Boost limit on a standard RST ECU is 10psi. Wondering for a *really* cheap set up get the RST ECU's and looms /sensors and use those.

Other than that you need to fit G60 management and f*ck off the K-Jet.

I think you should go for it Rick :)

If you consider using a G60 ECU then these can be picked up for pennies from German eBay, as I did.

I had a 2l TSR engined Scirocco a number of year ago. In order to sort out problems with standard K-jet set up regarding fuelling and ignition timing, a K-Star system was fitted - can then map both throughout the rev range. May be the solution you are looking for :)

if a 1.8 head will fit the 1.6 block, that should lower the compression ratio.

you can get a stand alone ecu to control ignition under boost.
