the springs are still the same either way, it depends what the "-30mm" quote is based from base or GTI. if its base with stock height of 360 then no matter what model you put it on the drop will be to 330mm if the qu0te is from a GTI then the drop will be 310mm for all models. exact drop also depends what model the springs were made for. if made for -30mm drop on a 1.3, you'll get more drop if you put them on a 16v because the engine is heavier
Which is weird because the Bilstein/Eibach kits listed for the 1.3 or Gti are exactly the same. This would mean it was entirely dependent on engine weight but how does that reflect at the back where the cars are the same weight?
basically becasue its not financially viable to produce several kits for all the models, so you have a 1 size fits all 8v version. Its not a massive difference at the end of the day, just something to be aware of. They do have a specific 16v kit though if you ever want to look for a standard set of shocks and spring part number from ETKA, it can get complicated. what engine, what year, how many doors, is it a jetta, did it have a 'heavy duty' or 'sports' package etc
I have this set up now after ditching the unbranded stuff that was fitted to the car when I got it. It rides really well now. Not as firm as it used to be but I prefer it this way.
I'm a fan of OEM because I'm getting old and I drive my mk2s on roads with too many speed bumps and occasional cobbles (Yorkshire life) I do however like to drive 'with spirit' and cars on OEM springs still feel OK to me - though I am not a racer. OEM does look a bit high up compared with modern cars and other mk2s that are lowered but doesn't bother me too much - can't see that when I'm driving and I prefer a slightly comfortable-r ride
Everyone, I'm about to pull the trigger on this kit. Does it contain everything I need? Can you see anything that's missing? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Eibach-L...-/332524791043?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286
It does but I would order new front and rear top mounts at the same time. Only other thing I changed was the bottom rear shock bolts where they mount to the rear axle as one snapped when I undone it. I will try and upload a photo later and show you how mine sits
Get some rear spring top plates, mine were shot completely when took out old ones to swap. Some rear mounts have the alloy tube too so you can build it all up then just fit straight on. Wd40 everything especially rear lower bolts up in end of rear arms, very exposed threads. May need that odd socket for front shock nut. I still needed to adjust it to fit with the grinder.

Strewth! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-...-/153969741469?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-...-/184718077964?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286
Rear shock lower bolts you want to brush either waxoyl ,grease or copper grease on the exposed threads to protect them after you have fitted them.
Not sure if the photo has uploaded. But this is how it sits with the kit that you are looking to buy. It still firm but not unbearable like most coil over kits
