    Hi
After 142k, its coming to the time where i'm looking to replace the standard suspension on my 89 GTi 8v. I don't have a huge budget - around 200-250. Any advice on what to buy? I'd rather avoid cheap coilovers unless anyone is using any that are worth recommending.
    cheers
    jimmy

What type of suspension are you thinking of going for.

A standard set again or uprated/lowered?

Lowered, maximum in an ideal world would be 60mm - Some shocking roads rounds here!

    Same here to lol.

I'd go for a G-max kit tbh. Would definitely suit your budget, and alot of people recommend them.

Also Spax and Eibach kits are great quality, but the prices are higher.

My 8v had some supersports 60mm drop from venom fitted by previous owner when i took rear wheel off found the cup was scorring the tyres. Wheels and tyres were 195 x 15 bbs ra so should not have been a problem. coilovers fitted now for better clearance.

I'd be wary of the Supersport sprint suspension kits, as they only come with a 12 month warranty, where as the G-max kit comes with a 3 year one for not that much more money ( will last longer to )

The bilstein shocks are quite dear, at nearly 90 per shock.

Great quality though. Would be ok with lowered springs to.

yeah it was sprint kit just i checked website. it was 60mm all round frons were fine it was just rear that rubbed in my oponion that was a major design floor as it could have caused a blow out glad i found out when i did. I did use wheel spacers as temporary measure but i am not a fan of them so fitted coilovers.

ok thanks, looks like either the g-max kit or the streetline kit then. i've read on a few old posts that they were at one time available through euro car parts, anyone know if this is still true?
