    Right as I run a business,and have a large database of prior customers,contact details and addresses etc ,I need to start thinking about encrypting the drive i store all the data on.;
    Is there any minimum security level requirement ?
    Or will I be ok using something like True crypt ?
    Now iI am only a lowly carpet and upholstery cleaner,so there isn`t going to be anything that will cause a major security issue.
    I am thinking about getting myself a laptop,so i can take it out with me when I quote,so it can hold my diary,contacts etc etc,which would prob work out better.
    Just been and set up an EPDQ virtual terminal with Barclay`s,so I can take Visa,and opened a new business account,which comes bundled with Sage,and other software,so got all that to go through too.

    I'd say talk to the geeks in Here

    What I haver just done, and I am talking about the weekend just gone! I took the two hard drives out of my desk top pc and bought a caddy. I am using them as external data storage and just simply plug in to any laptop/pc I happen to use.

    quite simple, Mr D.

    I use one for music and pictures and the other for all my work related ****e.

    The caddy cost me 25 from Maplins.

    Don't lose the encryption key - you laugh but you have no idea the number of people that have asked me to "get their data" after doing the whole encryption thing.

    And encrypt your backups. (assuming you are backing your data up, if not, DO IT)

    But providing you are careful there are loads of utils about to do it.
