The nice VW people (City VW in London) are bringing it to my office for me and wife to test out.
Quite impressed and slightly excessively excited.
May well have one next week if all goes to plan.
This one is a black 3 door with leather. Just what I'm after.
    Fingers crossed!

But think what you could do to a Mk2 with that money...... BTW Matt, I believe you still owe me a session with your wife. I will tidy the tent at Inters, assuming you will be there? ;)

TSC - I nearly forgot. Will be there. I think I may have moved on from mk2s. Had one at 21 years old. Great car but maybe a weeee bit old now?!
Rob - Already completely addicted to the "big cube" NA engine after the Nissan 350Z but that's not a VW, has no back seats (I need them) and a lot less subtle.
Are you finding the 3k revs boominess annoying or is it okay?

The boominess is very nice to hear, not overly intrustive, plus it does make people turn round and see whats coming:lol:

The best thing is when cruising at 80 on a dual carriageway, there is hardly any exhaust note at all! Its all very quiet and sedate.

Cant fault the car at the moment, but then I have only done 150 miles in it so far! All town journey's and commute to work (about 8 miles), so I havent really had a chance to do a long haul yet. I am averaging about 22 mpg with all the short trips, which is much more than I was expecting. Long hauls trips, I should be looking at near 30mpg [:D]

    Ohhh yes - Veeery nice!
    Black, 3 door, leather.
Wife and I took it out - Not a lot of quick roads here but enough to feel the power.
Lovely inside with good seats and nicely made.
Slightly smaller boot than my mk3 but just about big enough for surfboards.
Ride reminded me slightly of a Scooby - Firm, well planted and very grippy. Bags of torque and the sound is fantastic. Suprisingly quiet and refined when cruising. Very responsive indeed - I hit the limiter twice!
Just spoken to the accountant and need to do some calling but it should be possible.
Wife loved it too - Watch this space!

    Quite enjoying the place really.
Doing loads of exploring and weekend trips away but having a good laugh. It's only shortish term anyway (lease on the office runs out in 2006 and then we'll move the company back South West) but making the most of it.
Got a nice flat which helps loads.
Where are you in the City? I've forgotten!
Brain only thinking "R32" at the moment!

See loads of them kickin about in Glasgow - they are far from Rare.

The S3 is is a much rarer beast ;) ( And nicer IMO )

Looked very carefully at the S3.
It has a major flaw - The Civic Type R is quicker and I can't be having any of that!
Golf quite a lot quicker and the interior in nicer. It's also got better steering and the chassis feels more sorted.
Strangely shed loads of S3s here and very few R32s - But then Docklands Audi is very close.
Rob - It's a stretch but I think it can JUST about be done - Just won't eat or go out for a while...!

I think the r32 use the new TTv6 steering rack - meaning the feedback is more communicative than the s3. Great choice mate :p .
