Reading in Volkswagen Driver this month, they're doing 1,000 run out final editions.

They'll all be individually numbered, back and a metallic blue, and just over 9k (in SA).

The door strips hark back to the pre-84 days :)

I can't help feeling these will become collectors items, even if the 5-door is a bit unloved. I like the idea of one of those alongside an '84 Campaign.

    Love Mk1s, me [:^:]

    Looks nice.

Don't think you will be able to register one over here as it's under 10 years old so will need alot of paperwork.

There was a guy on another forum who was trying to register a late model citi but couldn't get hold of the paperwork that was needed to register it over here.

Being under 10 years, it'll need a full IVA inspection.

What aspects are the the tricky bits?

Those single-glass front doors look like Caddy 'win'...

Used to be a Lupo dash, with blue illumination - got a brochure here from a SA trip a few years back

1 UKP=12 SA rand presently, so not that good (been 15 rand commonly and 19 rand=1UKP end of last year......)

Anyone fancy sharing a container? have considered importing one of these on numerous occasions, fancy a Citi-R personally:

If anyone is serious about doing this, let me know. I'm from South Africa, so would be able to sort stuff out on that end.

I might be wrong but thought it needed crash test info as the inspection needed is the full IVA test & not just the basic one for like a kit car.
Think it was Paul_c that said about it on the mk1oc regarding the guy trying to register a under 10 year old citi.

I'd have to check, but I can't see certain quick cars at the Nurburgring ;) being crash tested.

It is a volume production car though, not a low volume car, so there may be a distinction and perhaps it's caught on the wrong side? [:s]

The original type approval (German/European) may have expired? Interesting one!

doors dont bolt straight onto a UK caddy, theres an extra metal plate which fouls on door post when you close the door. drilled out the spot welds and removed it BUT the door still didnt sit right in the aperture. got 1 for sale now if **** wants it, in mint condition. [:D]
