Auto bit doesn't worry me, used to love my auto jeep.

passat interior seems abit nicer though, and the estate is definitely a plus point. mileage of the bora is very good, but presumably near cambelt time?

ah i dunno, it's so damn hard choosing a car when you've got the money. it was so much easier when the browsing was only speculative!!

Aye, could be 60k, but maybe 40k depending on the car year.

Also high up the list is an 02 registered skoda octavia 1.8t 4x4 elegance. 62k miles, 4200.

practical estate, 1.8t for performance (ish) they reckon 8.1s -60 that isn't bad for a skoda is it? ;) it's also a kind of jazz blue which looks nice and simple.

one presumes it's basically a golf estate with 4x4 and the 150bhp engine. for much less than a golf!

I like it. also presumably easily tuned like it's veedub brothers?

or should i be asking this in the vag forum rather than the vw bit?

Wahey, just put a deposti on a Bora!

it's the dark metallic green (dragon green?) with beige interior.

it's the 115 pd tdi engine with 80k miles. love it.

best start scouring the 'bay to find some fancy bits for it.
cheers for all the advice guys. much appreciated.

Excellent choice - welcome to the fold.

Don't forget, if you find yourself hankering for more hp, a remap is easily achieved.

Forget fancy bits - get saving for some uprated suspension - always the 1st port of call on a mk4.

suspension was exactly what i meant by "fancy bits" .

along with a satnav unit to fit in the dash. i see plenty on the bay, just gotta find out how compatible they are.

chip or remap will definitely be on the list soon too. had 5k but got the car for 3850 so i've got a bit left over.

    I picked her up yesterday.

and the owner certainly didn't mention that is hasn't definitely not been remapped by chipped uk and definitely doesn't not have more than the quoted figure of power/torque.

suffice to say i definitely wasn't not wheelspinning all the way home and cetainly didn't have the biggest smile i've had for a long time. ;)

    I love it.

I'm going to suggest what I always suggest in these cars for 5k threads.

A Nissan 200SX S14a with stage 1 mods. 260-280bhp, 30mpg sensible driving, turbo flutter, ass hanging out, comfy cruiser and mods a plenty available.

These are sooo much fun to drive!!

edit: I was a bit late on this one, I only read the 1st page. Good luck with the Borat.

didn't actually consider the aspect of a smallish boot opening to fit my dh bike through before i bought the car. a hatch would be most beneficial in those times!!

So.... 1150 - that'll sort the handling & remap with change.

A half decent low for 5k?

    I don't think I'd want a 'whole' decent low for 5k !

What the hells a 'low' anyway!

    I'm assuming a dumped mk4.

You could also have built a big shed with 5k.
