Nice pics matey. The moon is at Perigee tomorrow night, so if its a clear one, get snapping!!! I will be setting my tripod up tomorrow night as well. If its not hooning it down outside.
Thanks, I was actually waiting for the sunset, and the cloud came in a messed that up... But then I spotted the moon. If I had a tripod with me I might have done some longer exposures.
I took this tonight, was lovely and clear. As it came off the camera. No adjustments, no sharpening, no playing. Just cropped. Longer exposures are wasted on the moon too. It moves too quick.
noticed how low it was tonight, but didn't get a chance to get any pictures so hoping for a clear night tomorrow, this is one I took from a month ago Just the moon, 14-2-11 by SiCrit, on Flickr
nice pics, heres a few i took when i got my new camera, did this through a telescope and was very difficult to get it in focus
All you need to know Neil: http://astrojargon.net/MaskGen.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1 Here's my contribution:
Easy enough to make Neil - Some black plastic sheet and a good sharp scalpel should see you almost there.
Read some good guides on photographing the moon. Going to test much lower iso settings with much slower shutter speeds on the tripod tonight. When i was testing this last night, i was using too high an iso setting and too fast a shutter speed. This made me lose a lot of definition and clarity of the image, so fingers crossed lunar perigee should be cracking tonight. Si & Rich, those pics are stunning. Hoping to get something similar tonight.
From experience try and use something around ISO 400... and the highest shutter speed you can. Long exposure isnt really the right angle of attack.
