Couple of probable non starters really, but busy mind as usual.
Has anyone tried either of these, or contemplated them?

First off, mk2 auto rear mount for a 1.8t conversion, got one here, and was longer than the g60 type one that I bought, so would push the engine further forward and may help brake master cylinder clearance? Didn't try it as already bolted mine altogether with aftermarket mounts and had a focus stubby master on too.

Secondly, 312mm calipers and carriers from a TT, S3 etc on the mk2 hubs with mini Cooper works discs, appear to be 315mm, 4x100, correct centre bore and in theory near right height, may need a small shim (washer) to centre calipers to disc, and disc itself is slightly thinner but sure the sliders will accommodate the difference or a 1mm packer behind the pads.
Disc may need reducing to 312mm, but it's blinking close for a starting point.

    Discuss.

Both sound like good prospects, Dave.

Cheers @Tristan, I Will do a bit more research on the brakes, and measurements of bracket off auto.
Admittedly would need 16 inches to clear the calipers but not too ridiculous.

    16 inches on a mk2? nooo!

But.. if discs need turning down do you have a local contact / means to do it? If not I know a few chaps in HX area who may be able to help out :)

Sounds like a cheap way to get good brakes for a trackday car.

No, all theoretical at the moment, but may do in time, 16s not so bad, 17s are a little ott.

Couple them with a4/a6 57mm calipers on 312 carriers and would be magic.

Some Alfa Romeo brake discs work plug and play, I have measurements saved on a screen shot somewhere in my mobileā€¦

problem with even longer auto rear is the normal g60/mk3/etc front brackets will then be too long also, if you force it in you'll be putting stress on the mounts. could modify auto front to fit 02a/j box though
