I've been regularly driving a mk2 for ~7 years and never washed the exterior. I like the dull patina that has... developed... but I don't want the car to suffer or rot away.

Anybody else working on their patina game? Or cleaning religiously?

I seldom contact wash my cars, but will snow foam and jet wash them at leat once a month. I will do a contact wash maybe 2 or 3 times a year.

As you say, it’s the dirt and grime build up that causes the rot. That’s why I snow foam and rinse then down semi regularly. Contact washing often causes more damage to the paint that regular wear and tear which is why I do it far less frequently.
