i have a toad immobiliser with the magic key fob that dissarms the immobiliser when its near the ingnition barrel, the plastic that secures it to my keyring broke the other day so now i have to keep it loose in my pocket which means i will proably loose it soon, I have the idea of buying one of the new style switch blade keys as i've wanted one for a while and fitting the toad fob inside the body of the key, i wouldn't need to use the buttons on the new key so thought i could remove any internal switches/battery etc to make room for the toad fob, has anyone done something similar? is there enough space inside of the key body to fit the toad fob? cheers Edited by: steve r
I've measured it up A=22mm B=16mm C=21mm D=37mm E=31mm F=12mm Depth is about 10mm once the bit that holds the battery has been scraped out.
Thats fantastic thanks very much, it looks as if there should be just enough room to fit the toad fob inside the switch key
after GTD's reply i got straight on ebay and found a switchblade key for 29.99 delivered buy it now, it arrived today so modified it at work today: broken fob: key ground to shape: fob / inside of key: finished item: i'm very happy with the results, the immobiliser dissarms as soon as the key is inserted into the barrel and is a nice snug fit in the body of the key. Well done,Great idea, I'm glad it worked, I'd love to get either the two or three button keys I have to work with either my Toad Ai606 or Clifford Concept 600 so I could just carry 1 key, but its not going to happen. Be carefull with the key, the keyring loop is liable to break, I've broken 2 so far, fortuantly I got two remote sections for a couple of quid as the battery door/ keyring loop aint available as a spare part.
Has anyone managed to get a switchblade programmed to an aftermarket alarm? I'm looking at buying a microscan AN211 and would love to have a switchblade programmed to it. regards Al.
I would like to do this with my toad alarm, but its just a standard alarm aye just two buttons unlock and disarm and lock and arm.. is it possible to get it in to a switchblade type of key at all for a mk2???? Anyone??
search for 'VW Key' on ebay, the only way i can see to get an aftermarket alarm to work with the VW key is to fit the PCB inside the key in a similar way to i have with the immobiliser fob. if your very lucky the buttons on the vw key will line up with the switches on your alarm PCB. if you can post a pic and dimensions of you alarm pcb i may be able to tell you if it will fit inside the key and line up with the buttons. don't forget the battery, the vw key uses a thin watch style battery to save on space.
very easy, you grind/file the key to shape, put it in the switchblade key and use a small drill to drill the channel for the roll pin just follow this guide,
I tried that, I think it was about 150 and they woludnt sell me one without keycode+chassis no, really if you getone from VAG you one a transporter/carravelle one as they are still using AH key profiles (apperantly) I know theres a locksmith in Middlesborouugh that specialises in car keys they stock and cut the genuine VAG HAA keys and blanks, aswell as most other car keys such a Renault Laguna card keys. Though when I went there they didnt have the AH blanks for the switchblade key.
good price, when i got mine all the ones that were a normal bid auction finishing in the next few days were up over 40 even though there were buy it now ones available at 29.99 there were others starting at a lower price with a week to run but i wanted one straight away so went for buy it now.
