Desparate for sat nav as I am a general navigational mong. I've done some reading up on this and am not too keen to pay &150 plus for a system. I have a nokia6680 so am I right in thinking that I could get a memory card off ebay with tomtom 5 installed, then get a gps reciever? Is this all I need? has anyone used it? Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

    For experimental purposes only.

If you're happy with the product I'd recommend you bought it. :)

well, I bought it, for 150, and it's crap.

the phone crashes every 20 mins, sometimes even less.

sometime the GPS reciver will not get a signal whatsoever

and my phone keeps droppoing the bluetooth connection to the GSPR too

had a brand new N70 from nokia tooas they thought the first one was faulty. it's no better.

works better if you turn the 3d display off, but it still crashes a lot.

    bloody frustrating.

I'm having similar problems with my N70.

I can successfully pair it upto the bluetooth GPS but usually after about a minute, it drops the connection and says 'GPS not found' or such like.

I found if you leave it on the GPS status screen (where you get signal details of each satellitte) it'll stay connected.

    Does this sound similar?

    i'v ran it on my 6600 7610 and 6630
i have the program on my computer can burn it to a disk
i'v never had a problem apart from with some new roads not being up to date sometimes

i know have a 7610 just for tomtom as i will be using it quite alot soon but have it on my 6630 for backup as well

6630 are cheap on ebay as they can't be unlocked or 6600 are cheap
get a 256 minimum sized card for cheap from say mouse2house.com and a gps receiver can be had for under 50 so for less than 100 you can have it up and running

I think you need Route 66 Mobile Britain, I've been using this for over a year and works fine but only does four digit postcode search.

I have a Road Angel Navigator... I know its a bit pricey but the software and usability of it is awesome...

However going through the dartford tunnel once it lost signal and crashed on me... went 5 miles before I realised it had locked up [:$]

I had a Motorola A1000 smartphone on contract with Three. It has touch screen so have just got a GPS receiver and acquired TomTom mobile 5.2 and it works a treat.

I had Tom Tom on a PDA with a Blue tooth receiver which kept locking or loosing signal so I sold it and brought a Garmin i3 from Halfrauds for 120 which has been great so far :)
