I've had various draper & Teng 3/8's & 1/2" ones over the years - even new ones seems to fail calibration test all the time!!

the Workshop bought a pair of halford units for a audit, 3 years later & lots of use they still pass calibration !!
need I say much more, it amazes me as well

Avoid Teng torque wrenches like the plague. They are useless! With torque tools always splash out on the best you can afford.

That is surprising, you assume that Halford stuff would be overpriced and very average at best.

I have had a few bits and pieces from Halfords (sockets, ratchets and small torque wrenches for motorbikes) over the years and always thought they were ok, I just assumed I had been lucky! Never had any Teng stuff as far as I can recall but again I had assumed - wrongly it seems - that it would be better than halfords for some reason [:s]

Goes to show you shouldn't jump to conclusions without doing some research.

    Good thread

I actually own 2 of the Halfords wrenches as well, so I'm quite pleased with the test results too. Theres a few who slate the halfords tools on here, but for the money and the ease of return on the lifetime warranty you can't go wrong imo

Norbar is all we use offshore/subsea. Got a couple myself, very good. :)

Looking at the pictures, the Halfords ones look like they could have the same origins as Norbar torque wrenches, some striking similarities to the Norbar Professional "industrial" Range.

I've been terrible for not using a torque wrench recently. But the halfords ones look much more like beta torque wrenches than norbars. Maybe they all come from the same place.

The Beta ones look pretty much the same, especially when you look at the rest of the range - break-back etc, all look to be of similar origin.

    Bit of a revival here...

Just bought, the small halfords 8-60Nm Torque wrench only 39.99 with the trade card.

    The 60-300Nm is 47.99

Which is almost half marked price on both of them...

    +1 for halfords tools.

Really don't understand why so many people diss them, brand snobbery perhaps. Never had a problem with any of the tools I've bought from halfords. My 1/2" ratchet is probably my most used and depended on single tool, 12 years old and still works fine, despite repeated use as a hammer, pry-bar, etc..
