So chaps what you all using?

Thinking of something a tad more sticky & built for the task than road rubber as a dedicated track tyre, now obiously higher cornering speeds but less fun sideways drifting fun too? & in soft compound I guess they wear out pretty quickly???

Lots of choice, although perhaps too much as even the Yoko range confuses me A32R, A048R, A005, A006T, A021R & loads of different compounds available, & the tyre size seem a bit hit & miss for 15"

Colway F2 or intermediates seem the right price but any good?

Mate with E30M3 swore by Dunlop R's

Or old slicks the way to go?? (where do you get old ones from tho? )

    Yours, confused of Berkshire [xx(]

PM Tubthumped,he can get hold of ex Clio Cup Michelin 19/57x15 slicks (ideal on 7"x15")

I used them at Mallory and they were a revelation [:D]

worth noting that they don't allow slicks at every trackday though.

i have some colway f2's, they are pretty good for the money but the sidewalls arent the stiffest going as colways are all remoulds.
the difference between the best road tyre and the worst competition tyres is unreal though!

    cheers, rob

Have you got a cage? Most of the trackday organizers say in their T&C's that slicks are only permitted on caged cars, but that said i don't think they really check.

As for the drifting, you can still slide about with the ex clio cup slicks albeit at higher speeds. i normally get 2-4 full days out of the slicks, depending on track surface. Thou the last set did go down to wires [:$].
