Has anyone ever seen or done anything like this? http://tssfab.us/wp/?wpsc-product=subaru-gcgd-rear-subframe http://tssfab.us/wp/?wpsc-product=front-subaru-frame-test-2 Any idea what type of material/gauge would be used for something like this?
No but there was an American dude who posted something like this a wee while back I seam to remember.
Found these bits: http://www.rallyanarchy.com/phorum/read.php?5,35887,35920 Is it Eric Langbein your thinking of? EVO subframe construction: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wk42KdoSwk8
Very cool thread, I like it, have you moved the ideas on at all? Surely the rear beam would be very easy to replace with a tubular item? Have you established what type of tubular material is the best candidate?
Rear beam is a very complex structure, would take a lot of engineering knowledge to remake effectively. Even top line euro hillclimbers still use them, albeit modified.
I've contacted Eric for more info, would anyone else be interested in tubular subframes for their mk2?
