alright all can any one tell me where to go im after some turbo fun for ma lupo gti can some 1 plz point me in right diriction cheers
go to the bank. see your bank manager. seriously, if you haven't got a clue, it's gonna cost you for a whole conversion. don't know much about the lupo, but if you were dead set on that engine rather than sticking another lump-in you'd have to reduce CR, possibly strengthen the internals, find a amnagement system to run boost and package the whole thing. why a turbo? any particular reason? what sort of power do you want? what is the car used for mainly? is economy a main concern? how much do you want to spend? these are all questions you need to ask yourself before deciding the best way to go about it. tt
or keep the alloy block 1600 and urine on the heavy steel blocked 20vs 1.4 16v and 1.6 16v share the same head. Rothe motorsport do a turbo manifodl with a KO3/kO4 mount.
AFAIK the 1.6 block isn't alloy - the head is though, but still lighter (smaller) than the big blocks (if it is definately alloy - then please let me know which ones are!) they don't share the same head, but they are fairly interchangeable, the 1.4 16v has a timing belt pulley for each cam, the 1.6 16v has a separate belt and some models (GTi) have variable valve stuff. Rothe do do all the stuff though, proly 's. or fit another small block engine that TSR's kit will cater for mike
while we're on the subject anyone got any comments on why the air intake goes down behind the engine on the one, where is the filter!? another of Rothe's 1.6 16v conversions, in a polo this time
yeah the heads are different, the point i wanted to get across was that u could use a turbo manifold designed for the 1400 on the 1600. i would imagine the filter is at the back of the engine as its probably the coolest place left. With the RAD, FMIC and turbo at the front its probably pretty warm there. Id use a BMC box stashed at the back of the bay with ducting running round to the front bumper Edited by: Rallye
