Hello boys and girls, What you think of twin 45-s on a 2.0l 16v 9a engine? Engine recently built, balanced bottom end with all new internals, head ported/polished/skimed with 260-s pipers, new guides and tapets. Will they extract more power than ke-jet set up and how will drivability be afected? Not bothered about fuel consumption and the fact that they have to be set up often. Any advice/info much appreciated

sounds like a good set up, you will see loads of power but i feel you should get more torque over a k-jet.

welcome to the carb club ;)

sounds like it could be an awesome setup, have you got it all running at the mo on the k-jet, it would be nice to get on the rollers too compare both setups :)

    sounds good to me :p
if the carbs are in good working order they shouldnt need constant setting up m8...

and the drivability depends on who tweaks em for ya ;)

    prof,what happened with dave walker?
    :)

Dave tried messing with them, but was very dissapointed, and thought it was a huge waste of cash

however he does sell ecus and injection kit, so he is hardly going to rave about carbs

For a start - he never said if it was a valver or not! He also gave real patchy info and it was in comparison to spending a fortune on TB's and management like Caterhams etc - this month is more of the same.

I feel that the remark that the Golf owner was advised to "Bung a set of carbs on it by a tuning expert" was prob tongue in cheek - then he admitted his stock of jets and emulsion tubes are now non existent and he got it "running half ok". Hardly a great tune!

    Case closed ;)

I'd keep the k-jet as it's free, and take it to stealth. carbs may make a little more torque somewhere in the rev range but not everywhere.

Engine not in a car, cos it was written off by an uninsured driver [:x] , so cant compare any figures over k-jet, just wondered if carbs would be able to supply more fuel than k-jet or ke-jet? Surely engine will breathe better through carbs and if they will supply more fuel it should see power/torque gains over k-jet? Oh, and it would deffo sound better [:D]

k-jet will also supply enough fuel, carbs are just a less accurate way of fuelling, they are a real compromise, but can still work pretty well. if you get the carbs cheap and have an old boy who is a wiz with jetting carbs handy then go for it, otherwise the k-jet will be the best cost/bhp compromise.
