Tyres - do they heat cycle and degrade? Should we change them?

    Hi

Have done about 6 track days on Toyo Proxy TR1`s in the last 18 months.

Still got about 1/3 wear on them.

Bearing in mind what they get up to are they ok to keep going with or should they be changed.

PS: Its a stripped out Mk1 with ABF

Go till they have no or not enough tread for another track day, they will get firmer and last longer the older they are. That's what I find anyway.

Never had a problem with how many heat cycles they do, my track tyres have been warmed and cooled a lot as I use them in the morning then change to slicks and maybe put them back on for the last run before I go home

Ok - thanks for the advice - my son does most of the track miles and I need to know he will be safe (as possible) so will stick with them for now and will invariably do a search as to the best alternatives when we change them

If you want to monitor the tyres a durometer will give you a shore hardness reading.

Dont want to monitor them apart from tread wear/depth - just concerned that if over time they were subject to heat cycling they might be more prone to fail.

It appears not so I`ll carry on until they wear out.
