This is Doug Mcdougals car. It is indeed, a very nice bit of kit.

Saggy Headliner - the only fault.

    A lovely car.

    A shame I'm not a fan of the 1.8T into a mk2 bandwagon though. Soul-less, bolt-in BHP[:s]

For me a mk2 should make a pleasing noise, beit drilled airbox, carbs/itb's or the whine of a charger.

The 1.8t makes a mk2 seriously quick, but what a boring motor

I have a 1.8T in my car and its sounds the dogs, don't know where your getting Soul-less, bolt-in BHP, main thing is it will mix it with most hot stuff you will come across on the roads
boring motor/ I think you mean nasty motor ;)

The wheels are just too scene to call it ultimate. It's nice but I would rather spend 8500 on building a car that was mine, not buying someone elses. Yes receipts can add up to that, and it is a lovely car. But then again I have to say Pabs would get my ultimate "modified" mk2 at the moment.

Plus it was an edition one g60. Probably worth more with it's own engine in it.

I thought the beige interior Oak Green won best MK2 at Inters? Or was that in another class?

its LHD so its a pain in the hole on UK roads - therefore not the ultimate!

You miss my point I think. I don't question the 1.8t makes for a quick mk2. The problem is all 4cyl turbocharged engines sound the same...no bark like an itb'd 16v or melodic tune like a vr6.

Powerful- yes. You will not find many folk who think they truly sound nice though.

The 1.8t mk2s I have been in were certainly fast and capable of upsetting all sorts of exotica. Without the nice tune, they had lost a huge chunk of their oldskool charm and charisma somehow though....

    Just my opinion of course...

    Wow its for sale!!!

Seen then around more than a few times in the local area, but last time I saw it looked pretty much bog standard but the litte tweaks make it look lovely! But then the last time I saw it was when it had a G60 as i remember loving the noise as it went past.

    Lovely car! :)

    Ultimate Mk2 my bottom.

The ultimate MK2 would be a RHD G60 RS:

2 Door - Small bumper - Matter body. With aluminum: wings, doors, bonnet and hatch.

    4WD.

6 speed sequential, lsd, dog box.

VWMS: suspension, brakes, engine mounts, dash, etc.

    Recaro Black Perlon covered seats.

    Ronal R8 Mag. Wheels.

    8V G60 motor.

Nearly ultimate:p, mine would need a few more horses to warrant the 4wd though! 200+ would do nicely [:D]
