    Hi,

Right I'm having trouble with vcds lite.

I downloaded it last night and my new cable arrived today (it is only an eBay one but I only wanted to quickly check engine fault codes)

I got it running, it found my interface in com3 everything was looking good. But I cant connect to a contoller for the engine section!

It keeps coming up with 'NO RESPONE FROM CONTROLLER' the only ones I can do are my steering wheel, abs and instruments.

Why is this happening? Its driving me crazy!!!!

    Anyone?

    Cheers

That's exactly it. I got access to a few things as said above but it doesn't find a controller for the engine.
    Really confused

have you changed the baud rate in the settings as i had a mk4 golf with a similar problem?
then when i checked on the ross tech site it suggested that.

    hope that helps.

The only thing that's happend is the abs light has flashed. But I thought the indicators were ment to flash when it was properly connected?

Is there not something I can change in the settings of vcds to make it find the engine contoller?

And shouting doesn't work. Called it every name under the sun last night lol

Is it true that an after market head unit can mess with vcds?
I've read on other forums and searches that if you unplug the head unit it shoul allow vcds to work properly?

try disconnecting the car battery for a few min then reconnect and then connect vagcom and check again, the controllers sometimes need rebooting on the 98-99 golf.
