    Hi

i'm having some issues with my vento's speedometer, it's literally dead.

don't know what may be causing it to fail but it was perfect a few weeks ago, the rev needle is working perfect.

on the other hand, I'm having problems with the radio. the front speakers ain't working, just the rear ones besides only half of the screen lights and the numbrers and buttons on the radio won't light.

    please help me

speedo gets its signal from a sensor on the top of the diff. check the cabling is good, maybe remove the sensor to see if its in tact, maybe swap for a good one to see if its the sensor?

i've checked the cables and the sensor and found no problems.

some guy I know told me tha the problem may be in the needle itself.

Got access to vagcom? You could see if the ecu was getting a road speed signal

    Hi,

    The instrument cluster has an i.d/ test mode, which can show if the speedometer sensor is producing a signal. Briefly;

Turn on the ignition and wait for any service indicator to stop.
Make sure that total mileage is displayed.
Press down and hold the trip reset button while turning the ignition Off and back On.
Release button, the mileage display should show '1', then a set of figures.
Press the trip reset again, the display should show '2', then figures.
Press reset a third time, shows '3', then figures.
(Each press of the reset advances into the next of 8 regions. Don't be thrown by No. 5, which is a test of all the lcd segments on the displays.)

You're looking for region '6', after which the display will show '0'.
Moving the car should advance the number, if the speedo sensor is alright.

check across the black and brown wire for 12v with the ignition. unplug the radio as well in case somehow its interfering with speedo (speedo outputs a speed signal to the radio, long shot though unlikely to be this)

    solved guys, thanks.

aparently the speedo sensor was damaged due to an overload, so, after replacing it the needles needed calibration due to the position that the needle had once the sensor broke.

if anyone needs instructions about this, let me know.
