Whats the deal with the VR6 24V?
Is is the same block as the VR6 12V and if so can you bolt it up to MK3 VR6 gearboxes?
Whats the power output as standard for the 24V?

    Thanks

204bhp IIRC, not too sure about the torque figures tho? Apparently, the block is basically the same as the 12v VR6, just the head/inlet manifold that is different. Also, the 24v has some sort of VVT don't it, pretty sure the torque comes in much lower in the rev range - similar to sticking a Schrick VSR onto a 12v?......

Afaik, the standard VR box does mate up. I'm 'thinking' of doing this conversion into my Mk2....... [:s] [8-}]

IT's based on the 12v though. engine mounts, flywheel and gearbox off the 12v bolt up.

    HHHMMM I wonder!!!

I'm bored stupid with this mk3 vr performance, how much better would it be with a standard 24v in it?

i doubt its worth it as the amount it would cost to get an extra 20bhp max could probably buy a lot of other good stuff for the 12v.

Did Gareths start off as a vr6?

Was the 24v lump ever used in standard form while in the vento?

If so do you know what he though of the 24v over the 12v?

When did the 24V valve come out and in what?
Anyone got pics of one so I can distinguish it from the 12V?
    Thanks

Nobody ever thinks of me when I can be useful, do they!

No. In fact the 12v carried over to the US market MK4 Jetta for the first year of production in 174BHP format, before the 24v valve replaced it.

Its fitted to the Sharan and Caravelle I think but to all intents and purposes the MK4 Golf / Bora of 2000 is when the 24v first came out. I even have a picture of mine, did have one with the cover off but can't find it.

Its 204BHP / 199Lbs ft Torque. 6spd box in it

    Mikedav,
Cool thanks... if you find that pic without the cover it would be helpful.

    Cheers

one thing to note, the 24v has a tyoe of VSR. its vacuum operated. Maybe
    a problem when force inducted.

But a lot of info seems to suggest the stock air intake (smoothed) with high grade filter works far better than CAI induction kits etc...dint know if that applies to when you are using FI though.

Im currently not sure whether to go CAI or not because so many have told me it works better without

So a 24v head won't fit on an 12v block?
