Hi guys, despite all the advise i am going to do some NA tuning on my new aquired 12v whilst its apart for a re-fresh.

I've got my head around most of the bits and the do's and don't bothers, mostly from vortex (sorry) as so little is done here NA - its all just slap a charger on it advice.

Basic plan is metal mk4 head gasket to raise compression, 2.9 clone intake manifold, ported standard manifold and downpipe (been told the 6 branches are rubbish apart for the 750 susperspint LHD only one), 3.94 final drive, HotGolf flywheel, Sachs clutch kit.

I have been speaking to Jason at JMR about a port and polish on the head combined with 2mm bigger inlet and 1mm bigger exhaust valves and did ask about cam selection and am awaiting some feedback on costs etc.

However i was hoping a few on here might be able to assist with cam selection also.

Badger 5 suggested Cat Cams, so i went ot there site but couldn't decipher the info. I've only ever selected cam from Kent for old ford engines with my dad before and they always provided a power band/rev range the cam suited which made selection easier but these do not.

    I am considering either:

    http://www.catcams.com/products/camshafts/datasheet.aspx?ENGINE_id=297&CAMSETUP_id=1439

    http://www.catcams.com/products/camshafts/datasheet.aspx?ENGINE_id=297&CAMSETUP_id=1441

however both might be silly lairy and bugger up all hope of passing an emmissions test so thought i'd ask.

Any thoughts appreciated (apart from why don't i just supercharge it!)

Thanks BenjaminVWH - can you offer anything a little more lairy? Car is not a daily, just a toy, and want more than 8hp gain from cams - and will be fitting double valve springs with the bigger valves as well so it can rev hard!
been told the crank and rods are forged so can rev over 7k so might as well make it make power up there!
