ive an obd1 throttle body on a kplate 93 2.8 vr6. I heard you can fit a 2.9 tb on instead of boring the existing tb. is this true??

    yes

and it's much better to fit a 2.9 one too as it has a stepped throttle mechanism. i.e. it moves slower when it gets towards the lcosed position, meaning that partial throttle application gives much smoother
    driving.

the 2.8 doesn't have this, it relies on the intake ramp to keep the engine smooth at almost closed throttle action. take the ramp away, and yes, you get simialr top end gains with a nice big unrestricted path. but it isn't as nice to drive at all.

does the 2.9 tb have to be the obd1 type.? Is it a straight swap with no mucking about or do i have to plug the computer in and make adjustments for the fuel ect ect.
can this item be sourced from a ford galaxy or vw sharan.
    cheers
