Well I've tried 3 different types of resistors and it still doesn't work! Any ideas? My clocks are made by motormeter? Are all mk2 clocks made by these?
Solved! 1/4 watt 1k resistors as it says but I had to connect them to the middle 2 posts ontop of my coilpack, not the 2 nearest bulkhead. No idea why but it has worked so I'm happy! Must be slight differences in coilpacks.
thinking about this one some more, I think this needs to be done with 1n4004 diodes like in the megasquirt mk2 rev counter circuit. like this, but with 4 diodes to the 4 nuts rather than the 2 on the megasquirt diagram. apparently the zenner isnt needed either, just make sure the diodes are the right way round as they're like a 1 way valve: http://www.clubgti.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=214566 if this works then it could explain why the resistor method is so hit and miss
unfortunately not, you need a tacho adaptor. this one does the job nicely both for the mk3 vr6 ecu signal plus mk4 v5 and v6 http://ashlocktech.com/TACH-ADAPT.html
Hi just wanted to know what cable do I need to work with the 1N4004 rectifying diodes. And i got 1N4004G diodes would the work fine
0.5-1mm2 be fine. not sure on the G number, I assume be ok but Trev16v is the man for these questions
