VR6 tickover

I'm having a few problems with my VR6, which I'm slowly fixing...

But mine's allways ticked over at 500rpm when it's warmed up at least, never thought much about it, but my mate recons that's well low, is that normal?

Seems a little low mine idles between 700 - 800

 

Mines dead on 800 all the while

 

think 500 is ok on a vr6 actually....they certainly idle lower than a 4 cyl.
