Just been to Derby VW parts shop to pick up a new headgasket & bolt set and they say they have run out of Synta Gold and most oils are on back order (and that's not just Derby !) ? So how do I get hold of any as during the gasket change I was obviously going to service the car ? Any ideas ?

Is this a trick question?! [:s] Halfrauds, motor factor?? Crazy how the most simple things can end up on backorder.

GSF stopped selling Synta Oils almost a year ago [8(] I guess I'm gonna have to put some 'other' synthetic in it until VW gets some Synta gold in [:^(]

GSF sell Fuchs which is factory fill for most german makes, and is what VW use. stick that in, it will be fine.

yep had same issue yesterday in VW in maidstone.

although the very helpful parts guy there (hes a member on UKpassats.co.uk and always happy to help find parts for 20 year old dubs) says that the semi synth the vauxhaul sell is exactly the same stuff just with a vauxhall label on it, and is cheaper to boot.
