when my cars in motion i hear a sort of 'thudding' sound. it sounds like a flat tyre almost(..that sort of thudding noise). i've checked all four tyres but they seem ok. it definately seems to be something linked to the wheels because when i let my foot off the accelerator, the sound of the thudding gets less as the car is decellerating. any1 got any ideas as to what the problem could be?
Is it like a cyclic noise? Not a CV joint maybe? (Clack, clack, clack). Or a brake component that has become displaced and is touching the wheel?
i cant really hear it when im turning a corner, but when im accelerating and decelerating during normal driving i can hear it then. it does definately seem cyclic, and i did get the CV changed about a month ago, i've been driving regulary since then. the last time i drove it before today was on sunday and it seemed fine then. hmmm...mayb the brake component, will have to check tommorrow when it aint p****** down! havnt got a dog so it cant b that im afraid..cheers anyway
check for flat spots on the tyres. my fiance had the same thing... we checked and didnt see anything.. but it exploded on the A1 proving us wrong. :/
hmmm..not quite a scrape noise..more of a bassy thudding sorta noise! im pretty sure the probs linked to the wheels somehow...
wheel bearings can make some interesting noises. I've got one going at the moment and it sounded really wierd - similar to what you descride, then progressed on to the usual groaning type noise after a while, I didn't think it was a bearing at first cause I'd only just done the one it seems to be coming from - I guess a bit of grit os somthing got in when I did it.
