Sorry must have been the only thing i didn't weigh before i fitted them i did weigh everything else though.
just to add to this, I've just pulled a lighter set out of a 2000 TDI head makes me just a bit confused why their in there, old aftermarket lifter mid 60g , and this lighter one 48's grams I have no history of this head other that I know it's not seen alot of miles on the road, and even though the part numbers match there are slight markings different between them I think I know which part number they might be - but not certain
According to VAGCAT that's 11 058109309E cam follower exhaust / Anyone got one on the bench to weigh? Might be the same as a 20v NA item - Danster??
Are You sure 20v head's exh. tappets will fit into 16v head ? Size to compare : 058109309E Hydraulic Valve Lifter Exhaust : height 26mm , ext. Diameter 33,5mm ABF 16v tappets: Height 26mm , ext. Diameter: 35mm
Good thread, presume your are all using 8K on a regular basis? Only kidding.... Seriously. It was an ache in the ball to use cossy buckets and machine lash caps down to size from blanks, but the end result was absolutely worthwhile. The engine top end is so so quiet, even with full race cams. Hydraulics for a race spec engine are now history for me. There is an old thread somewhere with me whittling on during the build process Just my tuppenth worth Jon
Holy thread Revival Batman! Some audi V8 engines have solid tappets and lash caps on half of the engine - early S8 engines I think. Can't remember if it's inlet or exhaust. I tried to get a friendly INA dealer to find me some but the trail went cold.
Mike_H: That 8V you have has cossy buckets and lash caps, are you not convinced? Sorry if its off topic
The Mk1 is just fine. I'll see what my neighbour who's a Ford Specialist can get me the cossy bits for.
Has anybody got the INA part number? What kind of price are they, I was quoted €30 a piece for genuine ones today.
Think cossy is hydraulic as std. Not sure of the weight. The real lightweight solid ones are sold on ebay and by reyland etc. Again off thread, sorry
It's all lifters. My neighbours build the odd race engine, so I'll see what they can do on a mate's rate. If it's anything worth sharing for the benefit of other folks I'll report back and see if there's enough interest in a group buy.
Acccording to VAGCAT Solid lifter + range of shims. Ceri, didn't you pull one of these heads to bits? Care to weigh the lifter if you have one? There are Alfa lifters from the 1960s and 70s as well, which might be adaptable for the same purpose. I have a few spare Alfa heads I could pull apart and investigate. I'm guessing the lash cap just needs to match the valve size, as the top side of the shim is normally flat (?), and be the right thickness for the lifter design.
http://www.ebay.de/itm/16x-Hydrosto...127&pid=100005&prg=1073&rk=2&sd=271069196666& Will these do the job, do Schrick actually make these or are they made by someone else and just sold as Schrick?
Alfa lash caps - Weight 41gr. 44gr with shim piece, for the one I've got. 35mm diameter x 26mm height
I found theese, INA 420 0043 10 equivalent to 050109309h but also found this note on INA catalog, http://webcat.schaeffler-aftermarket.com/pim/upload/schaefflerDocs/datasheet/base/420002210_4310se_en.pdf any opinions?
