My Ibiza (AHU engine) was very hard starting in this cold weather I was aware that even at freezing temps the ECU was only energising the glow plugs for a fraction of a second.

I disconnected the coolant temp sensor. This made starting loads better, I ordered and fitted a new black square 4 pin temp sensor.
The glow plugs are energising for a more reasonable duration when cold and starting is a thousand times better - Happy Days.

BUT, Now the temp gauge barely seems to move off the bottom of the scale even after 30mins of fast dual carriageway driving. The cabin heater is as warm as it ever has been.

Is my thermostat knackered too and the new temp sender has highlighted this or could it be something else?

Getting fed up seems everything on this car needs replacing!

I replaced the stat yesterday and its no better. It sits at the first hash mark unless in heavy traffic or idling.

    Any ideas?

Whose great idea was it to put it under the PAS pump?
I had it done in an hour but seems a rite silly place!
