you can get a g60 to make similar power to a vr for not much money, I wouldnt say my g60 corrado was noticeable slower than my 2.9 vr6 engined rallye when I bought it.
I still loved mine even with the 2.0 8v in it. nice torquey engine, but the brilliant chassis and driving position just made it for me. Easily the best handling FWD car I've ever driven.
I am kinda dissapointed by 16v. Just doesnt feel that urgent although compared to my old Golf 8v it is faster. Ive had a G60 and it was great and a Mk3 VR so I have experienced the engine. Raddo VR it probably the best overall package.
