Hi all, I'm new to this site, and need a question answered,if anyone knows,ok, here's the thing,i recently bought some 3/16 copper brake tubing,as my mk2 golfs lines are totaly shot disintegrated,so wanted to make my own new brake lines, however, I'm being told that the copper is no good for a braking system,so thought...ok I'll get some copper nickel stuff, but because my mk2 golf has rear drums, and a brake pressure regulator, I'm told i can't use the tubing....so now left with a question mark hanging over my head, can anyone help me in this field at all, greatly appreciated...cheers.

Either will do. Copper is easier to use and to form the flares on.
Some will say that copper/nickel is better but in normal vehicle use there is no significant difference.
I've used copper for more than 20 years without issue.

Not everyone will agree with this.

As per pigbladder kunifer brake pipe is the one to use, I have used for years and would recommend. You can buy pre made brake pipes if you wish.

Cupronickel / Kunifer is far superior to copper. Easily formed too. I've been using it extensively on all sorts of vehicles including mk2s, for years.

It will do. But cupro is far better at a minor extra cost.

i guess copper is the one to use then,i learn as i go,i know my way around engines, but never gave much thought to making my own brake lines,i'm probably just being over cautious,so joined this forum to get others opinions, before i go ahead with it,i have all the right flaring tools i need to make a bubble flare as this seems to be the most common type of flare.[:$]

I would even say it's easier bend, as it is nearly impossible to kink.

Thanks for your opinions on the brake line choice,i spoke to a mechanic at Halfords, and he said it's fine for doing brake lines,as they sell it instore, but copper nickle is a good choice also...anyways thanks for your input, stay safe yeah..

    "a mechanic at Halfords"
    Isn't that an oxymoron?

I guess some have very dim views on halfords, however after much deliberation,i have now decided to use copper nickle...kunifer as it's known,so got some on order.
