After trying to fit new pads to my std. Mk1 calipers (spaced out to 280mm (or is it 285mm ?) with the TSR brackets) I've come to the conclusion they won't fit allow the vented discs that are currently on the car enough space to fit between the pads.
So I need to go back to unvented (until the pads are reasonably worn down, at least) and was hoping someone might know what car would have some 280/285mm discs with a 4x100 PCD spacing please ?

Do vented type calipers fit the original mk1 caliper carriers ? And, if so, what car could these vented-type calipers be taken from please ?

As an aside, apparently BMW Mini's (R55,R56,R57) came with 280mm (4x100 PCD) solid discs, but more research needed ..

what calipers do you have just now as some mk1's have the same calipers for vented and non vented ie they have mkII stamped on them
they use thinner pads for the vented discs

the problem with the 280mm discs is they are 22mm wide and not 20mm like the 239 and 256 discs

so as said above you need to remove 2mm from the pads

I took my pads to a local machine shop and they milled a few mm off them. I think it's the faster and easiest way to sort it mate

If they are VW II calipers just get the vented pads - If they are different calipers, get down to the scrap yard and pick up a pair of VW II calipers. Cheap and plentiful.

Unvented 280s on the front are likely to warp as soon as you look at them!
