Having a dumb day so help please 2ltr 8v block can't read engine number and casting number painted over Sold it to my mate to put in his 1.8 8v but his mechanic says front fittings different I've had to give him his money back which I've already spent on wheels What have I got Thanks
I dont know but the engine doesn't mount in the car by any front fittings? That looks like it should work to me
All 8v "big" blocks of that era are exactly the same are they not? What does he mean by "front fittings"?
Eh ? I`m not sure what he means ? I believe the plastic breather assembly is different from a KR to an ABF, but not sure what else ?
It looks the same to me just think my mates mechanic doesn't want to change the engine as he was doing it in exchange for track day usage lol How much benefit would I get putting this lump in my 8v over standard ?
Yes breather are different in size/shape. I can only assume he means the breather fittings on the front, the PB doesn't have this at all, whereas the 2E, ADY and AGG do.
Straight swap, nothing else, a little power but TORQUE. I can feel the tarmac rippling already just by looking at it lol
No lol 6 mk2's plus 2 extra engines and gearboxes plus a massive stash of parts I bought off RobT so if it's mk2 I've got it I just struggle selling stuff just incase I need it in the future
The breather and the oil filter bolt pattern suggests later plastic crankcase separator. Block is a 93 casting and a 'taller block' with no crank pick up sensor hole. So it is at least a 2E code or equivalent 159mm rod 8v motor from that era. HTH
Yes came with plastic breather which I neglected to give him so mechanic couldn't be bothered My mate wants to get it on the track ASAP get some worth out of it and maybe get and track day strip a tt next year lol So it's a combination of factors that have scuppered me
