I'm going to buy myself a crash helmet for my scooter next week as the one I borrowed to use til now is *****e - a 50 helmet just isn't going to give my head the protection I want/need nerd

I thought I might aswell try and get one that will be useable for track days too as I'm hoping to get into them soon evil, does anyone know what standards (BS etc..) I need to look out for?

I would of thought that any helmet designed to protect against the impact of the road or a moving lorry would be more than sufficient to protect against the headrest or any other relativly soft bits inside a car - therefore is any bike helmet OK?

    Ta.

I thinks most trackdays want you to have a helmet to BS6658 Type A Blue label.

In 20+ trackdays Ive never had my lid checked.

Specific car & bikedesigned lids are diferent, but vast majority of trackdayers just use bike lids.

Good quality lids nowadays can be had for very little, J&S bike shops if you have one in your area are normally very good on prices.

For car use, lightest is often best, huge strain on neck in crash & heavy lid doesnt help, I sue my bike Shoei & its a heavy thing & I should really get a lighter one for car use.

I use my AGV for trackdays, spent 200 but well worth it (use it every day for work), get one with removable iners / padding as it`s easier for washing. (don`t need to do it very often but it makes a difference).
