Hi guys, posted a wanted already but I thought i'd ask you guys too! I need the little white valve thing here, I think it's linked to the braking system (i.e. servo) and it's just below the ignition coil in the pics (to the right of the inlet manifold) Anyone know what it is? has a couple of pipe connections. Mine was worn through on the top so I put some tape on it and now the brakes have got much better! Any idea of part number and where I can get one? I have tried ebay but don't know the name of it, and can't find it anywhere on VAGCAT. Cheers, Jon.
its a non-return valve, holds vacuum in the servo after engine is switched off. means if engine cuts out you still have a reserve of vacuum brake assistance if its just the cap thats worn thru you can replace it
Ah thanks Jonny. So am I right in thinking that if this had an air leak then it would affect the brakes whilst the engine was running? I could actually hear the air hissing out of it at idle, so I threw some tape on it and the brakes have been sharper since but I really want to fix it. Any idea of a part number, buddy old pal?
ETKA seems to list 3 numbers for a PB 056 129 777 4mm Cap or 056 129 777 A 7.3mm x 13mm Cap and a 431 611 817 Cover Cap
056 129 777 is the small green vac nipple cap - 0.17+VAT 431 611 817 is the larger yellow cap - 2.17+VAT
