What is this sensor for?

At the front of the block:

IIRC it says "BOSCH" on it.

Also, car feels flat, havent been in/driven any other mk2's, but it can just about do 100mph Feels like the power just drops off about 4k, when surely it should be able to pull to the limiter without too much problems, especially in the lower gears?

Trying to get my hands on a timing light, to do the recommended tune up, praying that fixes it. Doesn't make sense paying insurance on a 1.8 when i got spanked by like a 1.4 saxo

 

It's the knock sensor, and it needs replacing due to the damaged coaxial cable.

 

Yeah the cable is ****ed.
Expensive thing to replace?

Would it make my car slow as ****?

 

I did have one of these knocking about in the shed....I will check if I still have it tomorrow if ya want?
