hi there i no its not a gti but i've just brought a 1.8t passat on an s plate.

I'm sure its already been asked but i'm wondering what is the difference between the 150 bhp model and the later golf 180bhp? and also how the leon cupra r and audi's are 225 bhp?
Is it possible to make the 150 to 225 and if so using what parts etc...

    anyhelp would be much appriciated!!

Also can any1 reccomend a good exhaust and filter for the passat 1.8t.

    Thanks in advance ade!

if you mean engine wise, the main difference is the turbo:ko3 > ko3s, as well as mapping

tt,s3 and cupraR use a different turbo again(ko4) and different intercooler arangement/mapping.

converting 150>225 is probably best achieved by uprating the turbo/intercooler/mapping

not sure about the exhaust, green cotten filter not a bad product tho.

There were a number of KO3s cars that were only mapped to 150bhp as well.

Back to the original question, you can get almost 200bhp with just a remap, exhaust and filter. This is because your car (most likely) has got a KO3 turbo.
The extra 25bhp is another 1000, as you are looking at exhaust manifolds, turbos and other bits, so not really worth it.

    The 225 engines have

KKK K04-23 Turbo (different even from the 210hp motors which have KKK K04-01)
    Bigger MAF
    Bigger Injectors
    Different Inlet manifold
    Different TB (maybe Bigger)
    2nd IC (in a row)
Different Boost Settings (N75J vs the N75C-N75F which were to the 150-180 engines)
Forged Pistons with different Compression (9:1 vs the 9.5:1 in 150-180 engines)

AGU with KO3 (throttle cable), ARZ as well (briefly - not sure which turbo, but was DBW) and AUM with KO3s and DBW were all 150bhp.
AUQ was the 180bhp engine in the Golf, and was identical to the AUM except for software.

No idea why - I just buy 'em and drive 'em. ;)

aye, i agree with this, although i think you mean ARX not ARZ - 150hp with ko3s fitted in boras/a3.

ok cheers for your help. so i take it i can just bolt on the later k03s turbo with nothing more than just a remap? and i'd be looking at 200bhp with this and an exhaust?

Obvioulsy bolting on the k04 turbo would mean upgrading the intercooler etc...?

I've seen the miltek down pipes for the golf would this fit on the passat?#what remap would people reccomend? custom code, revo etc..?

    Cheers ade

I have a Revo remap and am more than happy with that. At the end of the day, they are all pretty much the same, but I prefer to stick with a better known product and their customer service is excellent.

the ko3 is, more or less, bolt on. 200hp should be achievable
Ko4 requires more, e.g. manifold ect.
