Looking at getting a nice steering wheel for my mk2 2.0 16v but i'm not sure what size to go for?
Its a non-PAS 16v (engine conversion) so steering is fairly heavy but thats not really an issue once moving! The main thing is i don't want a boat sized wheel, but at the same time i don't want one so small i either can't turn it or its just too clumsy/uncomfortable/fiddly to use on a track, so what are people running?
Also i like the suede OMP ones but do they just go tatty/smooth after a while or are they quite hard-wearing?

    Cheers,

    James

I've had a suede Momo Monte Carlo for over 15 years. The suede is very smooth, not quite leather, but it's still brilliant when you're wearing race gloves with leather panels. Mine is around 350mm.

    I've got a 350mm Sparco suede steering wheel with a 90mm dish.

I really like it, used it daily for about a year putting about 8k miles on it and it's held up well so far.

So 350 is a good size? tried a 280 and it was just uncomfortable changing direction quickly, a bit fumbly (maybe thats just my sausage fingers hampering my driving though!)

I've had a few suede ones and they go smooth after a while if used daily - gone back to my leather 350mm Momo 78 now.
