Mk1 will be mainly track car but also be used on roads So far i have: new wishbones fitted with powerflex bushes rear beam with powerflex bushes solid adjustable top mounts neuspeed front and rear ARB-s with rose jionts and poly bushes D&W 4 point lower front brace Neuspeed front strut brace 6 point safety devices cage Home made rear brace Obviously i want the shasis to be stiff as poss but dont want to add too stiff shocks and springs to above items as i want best possible traction as mk1 will be stripped out and very light You peeps think a kit like fk konigsports would give me what i want? Any advice appreciated
There's a good thread about spring rates andARBson this forum here http://www.clubgti.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=95641&P N=1
Cheers gaz, was using normal search but as usual didnt work I'l search for altern8-s posts Gentlefoot, i'l check that, cheers boys
sambo The D&W 4 point lower brace - is it the same as Autotech (USA) market and are they available here ? Cheers
that sounds simluar to my setup i got i think ive started a few posts about suppension i will see if i can dig them out how much have you got to spend the general feel was for coilovers the koinigsports have koni dampeners
Cheers altern8, i know fk-s are good as i had them on my rado, but i was just wondering if they are ok for hard track use Yea i do want coilovers because i want it to be adjustable in as many ways as poss I really want leda but am unsure if want to spend that much
imop i think the front end will be way too stiff, when you start to really stiffen up the mk1 it starts to suffer badley from under steer, i found that the front lower brace is way too much you wont need it, you need a bit of give or there will very little steering feed back till its too late you really need fk koning sports as they have ajustable damping, the set up on my rocco is simler to what you ve got (minus the cage(, i found set it up very hard (will understeer badley) and keep backing the front off till it grips then back rear off a small amount then the front a bit more till it kinda 4 wheel drifts around roundabouts if you know what i mean
It can never be to stiff! I'l just have to combat the understear if it happens by stiffening up rear even more
what shocks/springs are you running? i personaly dont think that stiff front shasiss will make it understear, but soft springs or lack of arb up front, or am i talking complete bolo*ks
im running fk coilovers, im just giving from what ive found, my car is set up purely for handeling its taken ages of driving around the local ind est at nights setting it up ajusting it takeing it back to the garage setting camber up, cos i kept ajusting the ride height, re corner weighting as every time the coilovers are moved it shifts the weight forward or back left or right,i just did the corner weights cos my mate builds rally cars and he has the kit to do it.
