My Highline has got the dealer option Conlog (or Logic 900, what ever it is) alarm/immobiliser fitted, and the front of the manual claims that it is a cat 1. Thing is (and this wasn't actually mentioned during the quote and when they sent my welcome letter and asked for NCB proof etc), they've now decided that i need to send them proof of the security being fitted or a cat 1 certificate of installation. Leaves me in a bit of a hole now, as i do not have a certificate, and i can't imagine the local dealer being prepared to check over my car and write me a letter confirming that i have this option..... Anyone had any experience of this?? Would it just be best to cut my losses and ditch the crap alarm and get something a bit better on there anyway?? Any non-expensive recommendations?
personally.. if your cars under serious threat (like mine in the poo whole i live in) then yeah get a new alarm, as it would be benificial. however if not and the standard alarm gives you enough peace of mind, then you could just demand that VW give you writtin confirmation about the details, as they should realy, afterall you paid for the car, the car is yours, and you paid extra for that alarm/immboliser, dont see why they cant, prob wont take them more then 10 mins to check over and 20 mins for paper work and faffing about! anything non expensive probably aint worth it as you prob have something just as good! be forceful at the garage, demand your ways! it works for me
When i bought my highline with the standard fit alarm, i tried getting the dealer to supply information but they said it would cost the same as having a new alarm fitted, and they also suggested that it was no longer thatcham approved anymore.
Thats about what i was expecting to hear tbh. Can;t see that i'd be able to go in to the dealer and demand they check it out and write me a letter as they ain't gonna care about a car thats been round the block a few times that was sold by another dealer 9 years ago.....
That is exactly what I was told about my 8v alarm. Spoke to my insurance company and they said it wasn't worth fitting another alarm for insurance reasons, a cat2 immobliser was fine, gave me the same quote. So as long as you are happy with the alarm, could do that.
