I own a mk1 scirocco 1.6 GLS auto. Its a 1980 W reg. Been hanging on to it because its solid, and I'm not sure but I might sell it. The point is at this precise moment in time I dont need the space, so if its not worth anything I'll hang onto it until I can afford to tidy it up. Was wondering what you guys think it could be worth? Bearing in mind a mk1 rocco thats not rotten is pretty rare these days I think... Its currently got no tax, and needs a new downpipe, or at least a repair to it. The engine runs but is rattling and on its last legs. Mileage nobody knows, the odometer had been stuck on 33,000 miles for years when I bought it and I fitted a working one that reads 105,000 I think, but its anybodys guess what the actual mileage is! Its had a weber carb conversion, and actually doesnt run that badly if you can ignore the rattles, but when I bought it last september engine transplants were in the back of my mind. I kept thinking ill get it a new engine when this one blows up, but its done a few thousand miles (I'd guess about 6000 in my ownership over the last year) and is still going! I replaced the bonnet because it was dented to f@ck but because the paint on the rest of the car isnt great (its faded a different amount on each panel ) the bonnet is a different colour! The car is River Blue metallic and the bonnet is from a dark brown storm, but doesnt look half as bad as it sounds because the brown looks black in most lights I've got a few spares that would go with it too, including two doors that match the bonnet and are in better condition than the ones that are on the car! (one door's complete with glass and mirror while the other one is a bare door) pics will follow shortly when I get them hosted. Now if you can stop laughing, does anyone know if its worth anything, and if so what? Edited by: Jeff
ps suspension and brakes are all fine - its had a set of boge turbogas with lowering springs fitted (handles amazingly, if it had more power it would be a right weapon!). Interior is nearly all there but showing its age. Its also got a set of 14" le castellet wheels (as found on some mk2 golfs and mk1 cabrios) that I forgot to mention. Edited by: Jeff
problem is there's no way the rocco is worth a years insurance on the "other car", or the seats I have planned for it, never mind the cost of actually getting it running...
I'll give you 200 for it, more than the scrapman! I could use it for parts for the storm (and whats left in to a track car) cos they handle better than golfs
errr rags did you read the post above? spares man as an aside, how much is it worth if I get it a new engine and get it MOT'd?
yeah, although mk1 'roccos are pretty rare, and a solid one even more so, people don't really seem to rate them, and most people who would want one will normally want storms, gtis, or glis, so a gls and an auto one at that isn't really goona fetch much even to the right buyer [:^(] I'd say you're best off keeping it and giving it some tlc when you can
I'll give you 16.00 for the badge if you'll throw the rest in? (that's what the spare badge I had sold for or thereabouts)...
Thinking about selling mine as well actually - mines a GTI and the body work is mint as is all the chrome + has Storm Leather and loads of new bits like suspension and filler neck and injectors + loads of history etc Hoping to get about 1k for mine or 800 without the wheels. Edited by: GRINGOG60
