What's this Bosch Thingy?

Hi guys,

Just had a look at my mate's mk3 gti and noticed he's got this, and i haven't.

I know it's a bad pic, but any idea what this part is?

Isn't that the charcoal cannister solenoid valve for the fuel tank breather?
It is further up the inner wing on the Mk3 16vs...on the strut tower.

It looks to be that, to me.
