I think its called "getting good car on the cheap with a few faults and fixing them yourself for peanuts".

    Or something like that.

    Some wheels for you.

I loved the LM's, but I ended up selling them to G60PM. but then went and bought another set! they are on my corrado though.

I actually prefer the mk4 on the R32 wheels! looks more stealth.

dunno the story behind the door, I bought the car like that. looks like someone has smashed the handle off with a hammer.

18's aren't a problem at all, neither are 19's [:D] it's just the width that you've got to watch outfor ;)

mine is a 1.6 and i have 18 215 35 but they are really heavy and has slowed it down thinking about selling them and getting some replica gti 16" 205's i think on a 1.4 it would be murrder 18's

8" wide rims are ok its the tyre thing thats like difficult cus your roalling wheel diamiter 215 35 is like the closest you can get on a 18 wheel well thats what i was told

Tim, most of the places ive looked at supply 225/40/18 Tyres.

Ive also thought abot the 'slowing down' factor, what do the people who have 18s on GTI T's think?

Would 17s be abetter option or not much diff? Id prefer 18s like :p

18's all the way.... Wheel diameter is about the same as 17's run 225/45's and 18's run 225/40's..

If you are going for looks then dished rims are the way to go, 8 1/2 front 9 1/2 rears, black centred Rials look great.

Me I got fed up of cleaning the wheels so 3 cans of hammerite later my Speedlines look like..

Are they the standard wheels for the 1.8T? Cant quite see properly cos its so dark! I was thinking about doing the same to use as winter wheels! They look nice - some more pics would be good! What else did you use? Just hammerite spray or laquer aswell? How did you initially prepare the wheels? Wet & dry paper first, or just straight on?

I wont bother getting 9.5 inches on the back though, just going to get the same all round...i presume its 8 or 8.5"

well its usually 8" on most of the wheels i looked at. yea i know most company's provide 18's with 18 225 40 but i buy persormance vw magazine and i have tried to find out what tyres they have on them cus 35 215 does seem really small but the cars in that seem to vary nut usually on the front they run 215 35 on 8" wide wheels but on the back usually 225 40.

They are 8x18 Speedline GT1's. Sanded them with wet and dry then sprayed it on. Was hard to get a good cover with the hammerrite though, think I'd use normal spray next time.
They were supposed to be Satin Black as well but came out too glossy for my liking. Matt black next time!

I also run 3mm spacers on the front and 5mm on the back.

I left the centre caps off too.

cool! you have still made a good job by the looks of things like!

Are spacers road legal? I assume all they do is make the wheels stick out more? No changes to tracking or anything?

    Looks cool like

Spacers are legal no probs, I know people running 20mm or more. These are just shims really but just fill the arch slightly better.
