My MK1 has a resprayed engine bay and someone didn't put back any ID plates. Is there any other place on the car that would have the VIN plate?

I've checked the boot and door frames and can't find anything.

    Thanks

    Paul

Another Aussie asked this before lol
I'm not a mk1 guy but think it's on the engine bulkhead / firewall in the middle ish
That's the chassis number but may not be easy to find if its been painted over:(

    ^^^

Lift up the firewall - bonnet sealing strip for the chassis number / My `plate` is on the bonnet slam panel ...

Look under the area `marked` ... for the chassis number.

Thanks guys, already checked those places for a riveted plate. Looks like I'll have to grind off some paint to see what's stamped into the metal. Pity, engine bay is the best painted part of the car.
