I am giving my tired mk1 1800 DX engine a rebuild, the main bearings are marked but not heavily worn but as it is apart and it has done 185K miles I thought it prudent to replace all the bearings as the engine was out. Where is the best place to buy the bearings from, it is not clear on the Euro car parts website which ones I need and no doubt VW want a small fortune for a complete set. For those who have rebuilt engines recently are there any places you can recommend? Sam ps. I need standard and not oversized bearings
Hi Sam Got my last lot ( replaced them on the mk2 when the sump was off) from ' The Engine Shop' (TES) in Erith, cheaper than Euro and have them on the shelf.
