XP is now no longer officially sold, so you'll be taking your chances no matter where you buy one from. I'd try ebay and pay very close attention to the feedback left by other.
Never resolved, having a torrent isn't much use without a product key though is it. I don't particularly want a non genuine version.
You can buy a legit OEM version on CD with a key for 29 on the bay. What PC/Laptop is this going on to? If it's a Dell or HP etc they just use what's called a slic bios and a VLK install key. Basically they use a volume license key to install the operating system on all the pcs they sell and just stick a key sticker on the unit. This is perfectly legit to install XP/Vista/Win 7 using this VLK key as the slic bios will validate it. It's just like a automatic license verification.
just go to you local reputable computer builder/store and get a oem version of xp pro but i thing you woud be better getting windows 7 unless you need it to be xp for some reason
a lot of schools use volume license key the wife was offered xp pro throw her work a few years back as you said with dell and the like 9 time out of 10 key sticker on the unit is not the used to install windows so the key is unused basically it would take them too long to load them up if they dident do it this way
yes it's a iso but you still need the key most will come with a key unless someone has slipstreamed it so you dont need to enter the key most keys will be blacklisted by Windows Genuine Advantage by now but that can be got around i take it's xp you are on about way bother now when you can get a new unused windows xp pro for less than 30 now
