does anyone know which of the Irwin bolt grip sets i would need to buy to try and undo a 17mm bolt? i guess the 11/16 one in the expansion pack looks the closest.

yep I would guess the 11/16 would be the one that would work best.

But depending on how bad the 17mm bolt is you could find your self going down to the next size :(

The Irwin's are a good and handy bit of kit to invest in mind you ;)

Irwins have got me out of a muddle a few times at work. Great tools to have (I have both sets)

I need me one of those! Just spent a good two hours failing to release a 17mm wheel bolt.

Have you done the hammer on an 16mm socket trick? I managed to get wheels off a car in the scrap yard the other week like this that had cheap locking bolts on. :)

This dose work better with big deep impact sockets not the chrome ones ;)

sorry, just to confirm, do i need to buy both sets, ie the bolt set and expansion set? i only need the one in the expansion set but reading the description it seems to imply you need both?

    <Smug> I have all three </Smug>

You can buy each of the three sets separately - but two of the sets fit in the same box.
