Life was so much easier when there was just one!

Engine in question will be the 1.6 crossflow from a mk3 or mk3.5 - AEK or AFT - or a hybrid of both, i.e. AFT with AEK intake.

Car in question will be mk1/2 Scirocco currently on K-Jet.

Looking through diyautotune.com I'm thinking the Megaquirt 1 with the 3.57PCB will suffice for fuel+spark.

    Grateful for input as always:thumbup:

I still have the 1.6 crossflow you asked me to hold onto for you Sean :) do you still want it? gratis.

As for the original question, go for MS2... combined with the Extra code it is such a better option, especially if you're starting from scratch..

I probably have covered the most miles out of all on here on a not so standard VW Golf MK2 ABF on a MS1. From -10 to +30 ambient road or track. No problem.

I also have a MS2 ecu with the roughly the same calibration as the MS1. Because of the time spent tuning MS1 and the requirements of the vehicle in question, there is not a lot of benefit for me running MS2.

MS2 has a slightly better transient strategy ( if you understand how wall film works) and a tad more resolution for the fuel 3D table, you may find this useful when shifting breakpoints areas affected by cam(s), intake and exhaust tuning. It would be ideal to control the J338 throttle module, those 1.6 engines come with.

Compare your desired functions vs the engine basic requirements then chose the ECU that is suitable.

No idea what most of that means Eddie, but i assume the throttle body stuff is something to do with the idle stepper motor? To be honest I was going to ditch the tb and go for a more "dumb" one - and one that doesn't need a coolant supply.

I think I'm leaning toward MS2 but having just priced it all up from diyautotune it's going be around 600 for MS2+loom.

    Any reputable UK suppliers?
